Les Kouba lived from February 3, 1917 to September 13, 1998.
Some of his distinguished highlights include his wildlife art, modernizing the Coca-Cola logo, 2 federal stamps and 2 national waterfowl stamps to name a few.
However, where Les Kouba stands out the most was his legendary commitment to “giving back”. He contributed millions of dollars of original art and prints to non-profit organizations including: Boy Scouts, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and a host of other charities.
Les C. Kouba’s deep understanding of wildlife stemmed from his lifelong experience studying wildlife in its natural habitat. This makes him one of the world’s foremost painters of wildlife. His authentic and believable images are based on this firsthand knowledge. A unique part of many Leslie Kouba’s prints is his use of thirteen elements such as thirteen pheasants in an image. Collectors have come to know this about his works and enjoy the search for them as Kouba may have camouflaged them into the background.
