by mnccd
Committee deadline for action on the MA Income Standard Increase bill is only FOUR days away. MN-CCD urges you to contact Health and Human Services Policy Committee Chairs using the script below, and tell them it’s important that this bill gets a hearing in their committee this week!
Dear Minnesota Disability Advocates, Activists and Allies,
There are many exciting and important things happening this legislative session. I’m writing to ask you take action on one of them today.

Help Spread the Word – U.S. Judge Renounces Medicare Competitive Bidding Program
U.S. District Judge Donovan Frank issued a memorandum about the current Medicare competitive bidding system that threatens to rob senior citizens and people with disabilities of quality home medical equipment and care.
“Defendants appear indifferent to, if not ignore entirely, the large number of individuals in the United States of America that are developmentally disabled and have other disabilities, who have been prescribed and provided [custom] feeding tubes for a number of years,” he quotes in the memorandum.
Judge Frank ends his memorandum by stating, “This is a sad day for those who believe that when a judge adheres, even-handedly, to his or her oath of office, justice will prevail and the public interest will be served. To the extent that a civilized and democratic society is measured by the manner in which it treats and protects its most vulnerable members, it has failed today.”
